As the State Tourism Organisation, our job is to promote WA as an incredible holiday and business event destination. 

We work closely with other government agencies (local, state and federal) and industry bodies to support operators and grow our visitor economy. 

We also provide funding to industry organisations to carry out marketing and advocacy work on our behalf, creating a web of support for Western Australia’s tourism sector.

Tourism Council WA

Tourism Council WA (TCWA) is the peak body representing tourism businesses, industries and regions in Western Australia. Tourism WA provides funding to the body to deliver several industry capacity-building programs. 

National partners we work with

We work closely with Tourism Australia and the Australian Tourism Export Council to help bring more international visitors to WA.

Tourism Australia is a Federal Government agency responsible for attracting visitors to and throughout Australia. 

The agency works with all State Tourism Organisations, like Tourism WA, to attract more international visitors and create a more competitive and sustainable Australian tourism industry.

  • Develops marketing activities and leverage opportunities

The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) represents the international tourism industry in Australia and helps bring buyers and sellers together to grow the tourism export sector.  

We work closely with ATEC's WA branch to help grow international opportunities and business capability for West Australian operators.

  • Provides training and development opportunities 
  • Access to business-to-business workshops and events 
  • Educational opportunities through 'Export Ready' resources 
  • Access to an extensive industry database 

Australian Tourism Export Council website

Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is a Federal Government agency responsible for supporting exporters, international investors, international education providers and students, First Nation businesses and the domestic tourism sector.

We work with Austrade on the delivery of its THRIVE 2030 strategy, an industry-led action plan to rebuild and grow the tourism sector post COVID-19.

Austrade offers the following support:

  • Export and tourism grants
  • Management of the China Approved Destination Status Scheme
  • Provides statistics and data through Tourism Research Australia

State partners we work with

We support several industry bodies and work collaboratively with other organisations to provide resources, support and opportunities to industry operators. Day-to-day these businesses support the various sub-sectors within the tourism industry, including Aboriginal operators, business events, visitor centres and more.

TCWA is the peak body representing tourism businesses, industries and regions in Western Australia and aims to promote the value of tourism, facilitate sustainable tourism development and advocate industry policy on behalf of its members. 

We provide funding support to TCWA to deliver industry capacity-building programs and collaborate on how we can support and grow WA’s tourisms industry.

  • Provides regular industry updates

Business Events Perth markets WA nationally and internationally as a destination for meetings, conventions, exhibitions and incentive travel groups.  

We provide funding support to the organisation to attract business events and to market WA as an attractive business event destination.

The WA Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC) is the peak representative for Aboriginal tours and experiences in Western Australia.  

WAITOC promotes authentic cultural experiences and Tourism WA provides funding support to the council to support its governance, marketing and business support activities.

Australian Hotels Association WA (AHA WA) is the leading industry body for hospitality operators, representing more than 80 per cent of WA’s hotel and hospitality industry.  

We work with AHA WA on issues related to the hospitality industry, such as workforce development and training programs, and sponsor its industry awards.

Caravan & Camping Western Australia advocates for the caravan and camping sector, representing caravan parks, dedicated residential lifestyle villages, trade suppliers, recreational vehicle dealers, recreational vehicle manufacturers and service providers. 

We work with Caravan & Camping WA to deliver initiatives designed to improve the caravan and camping sector in WA.

The Western Australia Visitor Centre is Tourism WA’s retail shop front. The visitor centre is a place for travellers to visit, explore, and discover more about the must-see places tours and experiences available in WA.  

Together with the Regional Tourism Organisations, we work closely with the visitor centre to maximise industry opportunities and showcase our regions destinations to visitors.

Regional partners we work with

We work closely with the five Regional Tourism Organisations across Western Australia, so they can deliver region-focused intrastate campaigns and support our interstate and international marketing. Other regional bodies we partner with include the nine Regional Development Commissions.

Tourism WA categorise Western Australia into five tourism regions, each with its own Region Tourism Organisation (RTO), which is the peak marketing and management body for that region.  

We provide funding to the RTOs, as they are a vital link between our agency and the local tourism sector.  

RTOs offer the following support: 

  • Provide marketing opportunities to tourism business to encourage direct bookings 
  • Local industry news and updates 
  • In region trade engagement and representation 
  • Facilitate industry development opportunities
