Over a thousand mountain bike riders are expected to converge on the South West for one of the biggest mountain bike events in the Asia Pacific region, the Cape to Cape.

The 2021 Cape to Cape runs from October 21-24 in the Margaret River area and is on track until 2023 thanks to a three-year Tourism WA funding deal.

The popular four-day competition attracts about 1,300 riders each year and covers more than 200km, with open, masters and elite categories catering to all levels of experience and ability.

Acting Managing Director Derryn Belford said the regional event was an economic boost for local tourism operators.

“It also showcases the spectacular scenery of the South West region, including tall-tree forests, stunning coastline and world-class vineyards, through television broadcast with the potential to reach more than 130 countries around the world, “she said.

The event is supported through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program.
