Authentic cultural experiences
Western Australia’s rich, diverse and authentic Aboriginal cultural experiences give us a unique point of difference over other holiday destinations. We are committed to growing Aboriginal Tourism in WA and becoming the premier destination for authentic Aboriginal tourism.
Guiding this ambition is the Jina: Western Australian Aboriginal Tourism Action Plan 2026-2030, supported by a $20 million implementation budget. The funding is used to support the growth of tourism experiences, encouragement for more Aboriginal participation in the sector, and increased visibility and awareness of cultural tourism experiences.
Delivering the 40 action items identified in the Jina Plan 2026-30 is a responsibility shared across government and industry, including the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC).
To underpin our aim of providing visitors with authentic Aboriginal cultural experiences, Aboriginal tourism is also a key goal area in our 10-year WA Visitor Economy Strategy 2033 which provides a roadmap for the next 10 years of development.
