About 2,000 out-of-state visitors, including competitors, are expected to come to WA as part of the Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival from March 19 to 26, 2023.

Targeted at athletes ages 35 and over, the festival will combine social and competitive grade games held at Langley Park and tourism experiences for the visitors.

Tickets to the festival will be sold as part of event packages that include accommodation, social events and day tours to help support local tourism operators and encourage visitors to extend their stay in WA.

Tourism WA Managing Director Carolyn Turnbull said she looked forward to welcoming the Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival back to Perth in 2023 for the first time since it was last held here in 1991.

“With about 2,000 out-of-state visitors expected, this event will be great news for local businesses and is expected to generate an economic impact of about $5.7 million,” she said.

“I encourage anyone who is travelling to WA for the event to extend their stay into a holiday, and take the opportunity to discover what makes our State such a desirable holiday destination.”

The Golden Oldies is a series of global sporting festivals for recreational and social players in the 35 plus age bracket.
