A half-price promotion has been a great success in Kalbarri, with bookings selling out in a week.

The Experience Kalbarri at Half Price promotion was launched on August 18, encouraging visitors to book tours, experiences and boat hire across the region by offering discounts, up to a total value of $50,000.

Tourism WA Project Manager Nicole Nelson said close to 1,000 people took up more than 350 bookings in the past week across a range of experiences including horse riding, scenic flights, fishing charters, quad bike tours, and much more.

“We’ve had great feedback from operators who have been excited to welcome local people to the region," she said.

“Operators have told us people have booked experiences they never would have done without this discount – things like a scenic flight over the pink lake, a bucket list item for many.

“We’ve also heard about families who have extended their stay in Kalbarri in the past week to make sure they get the most out of the offer."

Tourism WA A/Managing Director Derryn Belford said it was one of a number of initiatives through Tourism WA, supporting operators devastated by Cyclone Seroja.

“This have come from the discussions we have had with tourism operators on the ground, and we’re really proud to have been able to provide this support as they continue to recover from the devastating effects of Cyclone Seroja,” she said.

Tourism WA is continuing to work with the community in its ongoing cyclone recovery, including developing a concept plan for the Kalbarri foreshore and beaches.
