A popular regional event has received support from Tourism WA from 2022 to 2024.

The Shore Leave Festival is anticipated to bring more than 2,000 out of region visitors to the Geraldton area and generate more than $2.7 million for the local economy over this time.

Each festival is expected to create about 200 jobs as well as offer opportunities for local tourism operators and volunteers to be involved.

Tickets are now on sale for the festival, which pays homage to the area’s fresh seafood such as the Western Rock Lobster, as well as its land-based produce, arts, history, Aboriginal culture and some of the State’s best chefs.

Tourism WA Managing Director Carolyn Turnbull said it was fantastic to support the Shore Leave Festival for the next three years.

“This festival shines a light on the abundant tourism offerings in Geraldton and the Mid West region, from its fresh produce to rich history,” she said.

“Events like this give people a time-specific reason to visit an area and are important way of supporting local businesses and the economy.”
