Popular community event Crab Fest has received State Government funding for its 2022 festival.

The Mandurah festival has been supported through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program.

Hosted by the City of Mandurah and held on the shore of the Peel-Harvey Estuary, Crab Fest celebrates the region’s famous Blue Manna Crabs as well as unique local attractions and fresh produce.

The festival is one of the largest free regional events in WA and attracts more than 100,000 locals and visitors, injecting more than $1.4 million into the Peel region.

In recent years it has expanded to include paid ticketed events that entice visitors to stay longer and spend more money in the Mandurah area.

Tourism WA Acting Managing Director Derryn Belford said the event will provide a significant boost to the Peel economy.

“Crab Fest attracts many out-of-town visitors who not only attend the event, but also get out and explore the region, dine at local restaurants and support businesses,” she said.

“I know many locals and visitors are excited for Crab Fest to return and enjoy its fantastic music, culture and food.”
