Following the successful launch of a new direct flight between Melbourne and Busselton in 2022, Jetstar’s new direct route from Sydney will make its inaugural journey today.
This service will operate three times weekly to bring an additional 28,000 inbound seats to the South West annually, boosting visitation to the region.
The Jetstar Airbus A320 flight will significantly reduce travel time for Sydneysiders to reach Busselton, the Margaret River Region and the surrounding areas, with the five-hour non-stop service two hours faster than the indirect route via Melbourne.
Roughly a 2.5 hour drive from Perth, Busselton is the gateway to Australia’s South West.
Only a short drive further is the Margaret River Region, WA’s premium wine region known for world-class food and wine with pristine beaches, tall-timber forests, renowned surf breaks and ancient caves.
The new flights are a game changer for Australia’s South West tourism industry, as 95 per cent of visitors to Western Australia arrive by air and the state’s visitor economy relies heavily on air travel, especially in the regions.
The direct flight between Sydney and Busselton-Margaret River has been supported by Tourism WA's $75 million Aviation Recovery Fund and delivered in partnership with Busselton-Margaret River Airport.
