A new mural by a local Aboriginal artist has been unveiled at a major lookout in Kings Park, celebrating the beauty of Western Australian fauna.

The temporary artwork at Kaarta Gar-Up Lookout in Kings Park was supported by Tourism WA’s Jina: Western Australian Aboriginal Tourism Action Plan 2021-2025.

WA Young Person of the Year in 2018, Kamsani Bin Salleh, created the new botanical mural which sits at one of the best vantage points within the inner-city park.

The new contemporary Aboriginal artwork also marks the beginning of 60th anniversary celebrations for the Western Australian Botanic Garden.

Tourism WA's Jina Plan aims to drive the development of a diversified and sustainable Aboriginal tourism sector in WA.

Other similar projects funded through the Jina Plan include the painting of the gangway at Fremantle Ports by Whadjuk, Ballardong, Arrernte artist Jade Dolman.
