More than 280 tourism industry representatives attended the 2021 Perth Airport WA Regional Tourism Conference, held in Geraldton this week.
The event, supported by Tourism WA and the City of Greater Geraldton, was jointly hosted by Tourism Council WA, Visitor Centres WA, Caravan Industry Association WA, FACET, Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC) and Australia's Coral Coast.
Congratulations to the City of Greater Geraldton for hosting the highly successful three-day event, and thank you to all the delegates, sponsors, suppliers and speakers for their support.
During the event, delegates had many opportunities for professional and business development, networking and engagement with industry colleagues, and the chance to hear from industry-leading speakers on critical industry issues and innovative ideas.
There was also a half-day Visitor Centre stream, which included networking opportunities and insights.
Other highlights of the conference included updates from Tourism WA A/Managing Director Derryn Belford, Tourism WA Chairman Nathan Harding and Tourism Australia Managing Director Pip Harrison; one day dedicated solely to Aboriginal Tourism; and multiple breakout sessions and events.
Tourism Minister David Templeman launched the Tijna: Western Australian Aboriginal Tourism Action Plan 2021-25 as part of his address at the Aboriginal Tourism Conference on day one, which was developed by Tourism WA with WAITOC and the Aboriginal tourism industry.
Dinner proceedings on day two included the presentation of the GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards and 2021 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Individual Excellence Awards. Congratulations to all the well-deserved winners, including Ngurrangga Tours’ Clinton Walker, Tracey Tyler from Karri House and Adie Chapman from Oh Hey WA.
Attendees had the opportunity to take part in a half-day tour of the region on day three, choosing between an Abrolhos Island Adventure All-Day Tour and a Geraldton City Tour.
