The State Government has committed almost $4 million over 2022-2024 to develop workforce skills for the tourism and hospitality industries. The $3.9M Tourism Workforce Development Program, delivered through Tourism WA, supports the delivery of short-term initiatives aimed at alleviating labour and skills shortages and longer-term initiatives pipeline of local talent to ensure a sustainable workforce. The Tourism Workforce Development Program has four key strategy areas:

  1. Local Jobs for Local People – Developing new labour pools, connecting locals to local jobs.
  2. Inbound workforce - Leveraging the working holiday maker (WHM) and international student workforce.
  3. Career Profiling - Raising the profile of the tourism and hospitality industry as a positive career choice.
  4. Resources – Creating assets and tools to support employee  attraction and retention.

 

westernaustralia.jobs is the dedicated tourism and hospitality jobs, training and careers information portal developed in partnership between Tourism WA and the Australian Hotels Association WA. The FREE website connects jobs seekers and career seekers directly to industry employers and  is the key call to action for  Tourism Workforce Development Program initiatives. Since its launch in May 2022, the site has seen over 5,000 job seekers register and more than 2,400 job applications submitted. We encourage industry employers to register and list job vacancies for free and take advantage of initiatives being delivered through the Tourism Workforce Development Program.
