Windjana Gorge

Bandilngan (Windjana Gorge) National Park in the Kimberley region

Tourism WA is inviting Registrations of Interest from developers to create new boutique eco-accommodation on Bunuba Country in the West Kimberley, in partnership with the Bunuba Dawangarri Aboriginal Corporation.

Development opportunities have been identified at three unique sites within the Bunuba Parks Conservation Estate:

  • Bandilngan (Windjana Gorge);
  • Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek); and
  • Darrambal (Lennard Gorge).

These locations are rich in cultural significance and set in stunning landscapes, offering investors the unique opportunity to develop a sustainable tourism product in one of Australia's most iconic wilderness destinations, the Kimberley.

For a full overview of the Bunuba investment opportunities, review the West Kimberley Gorge Country - Bunuba Parks Investment Prospectus below.

These new development opportunities coincide with the recent unveiling of plans for a new luxury eco-lodge in Purnululu National Park in the East Kimberley. Scheduled to open by 2027, the project is being led by international travel company Abercrombie & Kent and will be their first signature eco-lodge in Australia.

The environmentally-sensitive lodge will be located near the renowned Bungle Bungle Ranges, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site.

The Bunuba and Purnululu developments are part of Tourism WA’s $17.7 million National Park Tourism Experiences Development (NPTED) program, which supports the tourism aspirations of Traditional Owners through sustainable tourism ventures and new accommodation developments in the state’s most iconic natural and cultural destinations.

To register your interest, please email a completed copy of the Registration of Interest application pack (below) that addresses the outlined criteria to Tourism WA at invest@westernaustralia.com by 5pm (Australian Western Standard Time, UTC +8) on Thursday, 17 April 2025.
